Title: Cavitation in Centrifugal Pumps
Speaker: Gene Vogel - EASA, Inc. - A Technical Partner of the Vibration Institute
Gene has over 50 years experience in the rotating machinery repair, preventive and predictive maintenance. As the Pump and Vibration Specialist for EASA, he assists members with pump related repair and troubleshooting assistance. Many of hs technical articles are published in trade magazines such as Plant Engineering and Pumps and Systems. He has provided technical presentations for the annual EASA Conventions, VIATC, and Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium (TPS).
In this session you will learn: Gain an understanding of the basic physical properties that produce cavitation, and be able to recognize cavitation damage in pumps.
Learn how to use NPSHA and NPSHR to evaluate if a pump application is likely to cavitate.
Understand suction side cavitation, discharge side cavitation and cavitation in non pump related fluid flows.
Learn basic techniques for reducing cavitation.
