Tim Irwin has been involved one way or another with performing vibration monitoring/analysis/diagnostics on rotating machinery for over 35 years. That has included both typical balance of plant equipment with rolling element bearings to large critical turbomachinery with sleeve and tilt pad bearings.  It has always been of interest to him in using the various vibration plotting tools to understand and describe rotating machinery vibration behavior.  Many people know what a Shaft Centerline plot is and what it describes, but there are differences between journal/sleeve bearings and tilt pad bearings in what the data is actually exhibiting.
